Blanket Project Mrs. Woodburn and Mahall 4th Grade

For the past 4 years Mrs. Woodburn and Mahall (Alex's teachers) have done a service project with their class. They make blankets and pillows for children at the Berea Children's Home. The kids are so excited about it and are looking forward to helping deliver them on December 4th.

Alexandra and Jenna

We were spread all over the Multipurpose room with lots of parent and community volunteer. The cost of the project was sponsored by Kiwanis. Mrs. Woodburn and Mrs. Mahall had some very sweet friends who volunteered their time to come in and help cut and tie!

The finished blankets! They were so pretty and the kids were so excited and proud!

Friday Afternoon Fun

On Friday each of the kids had friends over to play. It rarely happens that they each have someone so I decided to take some pictures.

Alexandra & Grace
We get to have Grace here twice a week because she and Alex take dance together. She is such a sweet girl! I'm glad they have become such good friends!

Christian and Evan

They were in the same class last year and we finally found a time to play. Boys...they are truly cut from a different cloth! They wrestled and karate chopped and tackled for nearly the entire time he was here! (To the point they came in for ice packs...and then went back out for more of the same!) I will never understand it. I am just choosing to accept it!

Lauren and Adrianne

We met Lauren when she was only 4 months old. Adrianne was only about 6 weeks old. They are becoming sweet friends! They both love dressing up! Lauren just started taking dance with Adrianne. We are carpooling so that her mom, Diana, can go home and put her 2 year old brother and 5 month old brother down for naptime. I figured that having Lauren over after dance would give Diana a little extra quiet time before the boys were up! They just moved into a house right down the street from us!

Maybe I Can Do This!

Okay Jen, I am going to try again! My blog will never be as insightful as yours, but hopefully I can share what is going on in our life--a little! I don't have anything really new to say or add, but when I do, I will try to put it here for you all to see!

Today is the recovery day from baking yesterday for a cookie swap at my house. It was fun, but I am tired today and a bit worthless. I am avoiding the laundry like the plague and for some reason it just doesn't seem to be going away! Sigh.

On a brighter note--I am getting my disgusting, filthy car detailed today!

June Happenings

Okay, I just looked and it has been about a month since my last post. At this point, if I can do a post once a month and share our recent photos with you all, it will be much better than I have done in the past. So here it goes... I will start with our most recent adventures and go back to the end of school. (I was clearing out my camera so that I can get ready for our vacation next week!)

Last week the kids and I went to my parents' for the week. While we were there we got to spend time with Tim, Jenny and Abby too.

Last year for Mother's Day and Father's Day we bought a tree from each of the grandkids for my parents to plant in their yard. They planted them and have started creating a grandkids garden. When we visited over Memorial Day weekend the kids made stepping stones for the garden. This past week we started decorating and planted some new perinneals. We are hoping we chose some that the deer won't eat.

Adrianne gets her big girl bed!

This was a big weekend for Adrianne! I painted her room pink and we removed the side of her bed, transforming it to her toddler bed! Daddy wasn't very enthusiastic about painting her room pink. However, when I asked Adrianne if she wanted her room painted pink or yellow, she said "PINK!" It just so happened that I had a gallon of pink paint that I had planned to use on Alexandra's room (before she and Christian decided to be roommates again.) Since it was already paid for and I had it in the closet, we painted a little swatch on the wall. I am notorious for painting swatches on the walls! Well, when BJ got home that night Adrianne took him upstairs to see it. She jumped up and down and said "I so cited!!" How could he say no to that? And no, I did not prompt her to say it!

Big brother and big sister are very excited for Adrianne! She loves them and thinks they are really funny! She thought that it was hysterical that Christian was sucking his thumb! She and Alex decided to make funny faces for the camera.

Our 3 little monkeys...see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil!!

I is for Inspirations

For Christian's Kindergarten graduation this coming week he has been assigned a line to memorize. "I is for Inspirations, we have had quite a few." Well, after he could finally pronounce "inspirations" he wanted to know what that really means. (It has been an on-going discussion.) I tell you this because my friend, Jennifer, has been my inspiration for starting this blog. I visited her blog today and really enjoyed feeling like I was catching up with their life! We miss being with them every day, but it made us feel like we were there.

Keep in mind, those of you who know Jennifer, I will never live up to her creativity and literary ability (she was an English major...don't edit me too much, just enjoy the pictures! :) ) That goes for you too Tim! (My brother was also an English major.)

We hope you will enjoy occasional updates from our family! We really do wish you were here!
